These are current sea surface temperatures. (click here) The temperatures made a difference in the path of Irma.

Maria is in oceans temperatures that are same on all surfaces. 83 F. Maria is also a smaller and higher velocity storm.

But, this is current "buoy data." Hard to believe the buoys are still there.

The warmest sea (click here) in Puerto Rico today is 29°C / 84°F, and the coldest sea temperature today is 28°C / 82°F.

I think Bill Cassidy is the living dead. His teeth are gray. No one gets to see his forked tongue.

Oh, SCHIP. So, he can demise the ACA while he is still protecting children under the child's program. SLICK. At least as slick as oil.

Here we go again. We had a dialogue about this, the children are covered by federal law, but, their parents aren't. Children are not assured of healthy parents. What happens if a parent is discovered to have cancer. No treatment? Decisions that are adverse to a parent's outcome?

This is all old dialogue. We have seen parents die when they could have had treatment to live and leave behind four young children. They can't afford the treatment, they can't afford the medicine and they literally die of preventable and treatment of disease.

This happens in Louisiana. What kind of nerve does Cassidy have to talk about what is best for the country when health care reforms he proposes aren't even instituted in Louisiana?

Cassidy needs to dedicate his focus to ending unnecessary deaths. It would help the quality of life in Louisiana immensely.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in a 2014 study, report 259,000 preventable deaths each year. (click here)

The study examined the top five leading causes of death—heart disease, cancer, chronic lower respiratory diseases, strokes, and unintentional injuries—that account for two-thirds of all deaths every year.

The CDC calculated preventable deaths by comparing each state’s current death rates with an average rate from the three states with the lowest death rates in these categories. The difference in actual deaths and expected deaths if a state had similarly low rates was labeled preventable deaths. The CDC was not assuming all risk factors could be eliminated, but was assuming states with high death rates could bring their rates in line with healthier states.

These potentially preventable deaths account annually for one-third of all deaths from the five top leading causes of death:

34 percent of all deaths from heart disease;
21 percent of all deaths from cancer;
39 percent of all deaths from chronic lower respiratory diseases;
33 percent of all deaths from strokes; and
39 percent of all deaths from unintentional injuries.

These diseases share several risk factors, such as tobacco use, exposure to secondhand smoke, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, poor diet, being overweight, lack of physical activity, alcohol and diabetes. More importantly, these risk factors are modifiable.

Those obsessed with destroying President Obama's legacy are racists. Cassidy is one of them, Trump is another. They don't care about the country, they care about their twisted agenda.

A Republican US Senator that is not intimidated by Trump.

He values the lives of his constituents?

Asked (click here) whether he feels pressure from fellow Republicans amid all their criticism, Sen. Rand Paul shrugged and answered: “Uh, no.”

...Despite being one of the Senate’s most conservative members, Paul has been the loudest GOP critic of legislation to repeal the health care law that Republicans are desperate to jam through before a Sept. 30 deadline. His recalcitrant opposition left GOP leaders with virtually no breathing room as their whipping got underway, since they can lose only two votes and still pass the bill....

...“If you vote against us, you’re voting to keep Obamacare,” said Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, one of the bill’s namesakes, when asked about Paul’s intractable stance. “Period. End of story.”...

...Paul has repeatedly pressured the conference to go in a more conservative direction when it comes to ending Obamacare. He proposed a straight repeal of the 2010 law without a replacement, but that effort failed on a 45-55 vote in July, with seven Republicans voting against Paul’s amendment....

...But Paul is alone even among his usual conservative cohorts in the Senate. Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Ted Cruz of Texas, who also have prodded GOP senators to go further to the right in their Obamacare repeal efforts, are warming to the legislation from Cassidy and Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

That is an extremely low central pressure. Irma was never that low, but, Irma had a wider diameter.

Hurricane Maria (click here) has made landfall on Puerto Rico with maximum sustained winds of 155mph.

The US National Hurricane Centre said the eye of the Category 4 storm came ashore over the Yabucoa area.

Maria battered the US Virgin Island of St Croix and killed at least one person in the French territory of Guadeloupe and devastated the tiny island nation of Dominica....

That is the most dangerous troposphere I have ever seen.

Jose is still a viable storm with all the threats I have previously discussed.

That drop in central pressure at 09/20/00 occurred with Irma at one point. The wind speed didn't match the central pressure.

Below is the development of a mid-latitude vortex that at one point appeared to be a dual vortex. I think that was about 3 hours or so ago. It is the size of the USA and Canada.

These images are 11 hours apart. The hemisphere satellite picture is below.

This is a first occurrence of such a phenomena.

The vortex stated here provides concern for severe storms in Canada and the USA midwest and plain states. It is finding enough water vapor to cause concern. By concern there is the potential for tornadoes.

A group of refugees (click here) detained in Manus Island and Nauru will soon be told they have been accepted for resettlement in the US, the Australian government has confirmed.

The cohort of about 50 people is the first to be accepted by the US government under a deal struck between the former president, Barack Obama, and Australia to take up to 1,250 people.
“Representatives from the United States Resettlement Support Centre have started to provide some refugees with a decision relating to their US refugee admissions program application,” read a sign at the immigration detention centre, which asked people to be patient.
“Every case is different and moves through the required steps of the process at different speeds. This is only the first group of decisions and only some who have expressed an interest in US resettlement will receive a decision at this time.”
A number of detainees have received appointment slips with the USRSC for Wednesday and Thursday. It is not yet clear whether the appointments are all to tell people they have been successful, but prime minister Malcolm Turnbull said at least 50 people would be going to the US.
Turnbull, said about 25 people from Nauru and 25 from Manus would be informed of their upcoming resettlement in the US soon....

...The deal with the US sought to end the indefinite situation for the hundreds of people sent to the offshore immigration detention centres after they attempted to seek asylum in Australia by boat.
Many refugees have spent years in the Australian-run centres, where they have been exposed to violence, death and high rates of mental illness and despair....

From Amnesty International:

September 19, 2017

...The New York Times today reported on a study (click here) – which the White House sought to block – showing that refugees contribute more to the U.S. economy than they cost. Despite this, Trump is still expected to announce his decision to reduce U.S. refugee admissions before the end of the month. Amnesty International is calling for the U.S. to accept at least 75,000 refugees in 2018.

“President Trump’s callous approach to refugees will cost people their lives,” said Naureen Shah, Amnesty International USA senior director of campaigns. “Refugees are ordinary people who have been forced to run for their lives. By turning its back on some of the world’s most vulnerable people, the U.S. is abandoning its rich tradition of welcoming people seeking safety. Not only that, with reports today that the White House is ignoring refugees’ positive contributions to the U.S. economy, it’s clear that the limits Trump is trying to set on resettlement are about politics and bigotry.”...
