There is a very successful flim producer that would understand Russian television inside and out.

Phil Rosenthal. His "Everyone Loves Raymond" Russian Style was a more than interesting collaboration with Russian media. It was also very successful. The Russians wanted a show that would help Russian families to relate to a large sense of themselves. The Russians wanted Mr. Rosenthal to be successful. He wanted to be successful, but, his definition of perfection was very different than what the Russia media was used to.

I'm just sayin'.

How does a hate campaign get organized and receive the financial backing to succeed in Russia? Knowing this film venture and the way I see it's success doesn't really allow for hate and the Russians wanted this. Odd. Very odd that today the Russian Gay Community is fleeing their homeland with their children. There is something here and I just think it needs to be understood better.

One never knows until asked.

Whom is sponsoring the Hate Campaign of Gays in Russia?

I don't want to know legislators I want to know whom is sponsoring the ad campaigns on televisions. Not news reports, but, the ads being identified as a year long hate campaign against Gays.

There is political pressure, whom is sponsoring it?  The state?  Where is the proof? It is not doubt that exists here. I want to know the individuals that are responsible for sponsoring a hate campaign over the past year in Russia?

Americans are suppose to understand it. There is a lot of online entries, but, they are clear as mud.

Example:

...There is a hell of a lot of anti-Russian propaganda (click here) going about for various reasons. I think it unacceptable that people in the ‘west’ casually condemn an entire nation - and these ‘liberals’ do this with a self-righteous abandon that borders on the psychopathic - based on a few dubious articles and questionable videos and popular government policies. Overly emotional so-called ‘liberals,’ stirred into an hysterical frenzy, are calling for Russia to be starved and isolated, or even ‘nuked,’ without first looking at all the details or requiring a proper translation of what is going on. Is that fair? I always thought that civilised people wanted to know all the facts before formulating an opinion. Perhaps I am overly idealistic,...

Where are the facts? Am I suppose to believe about a year ago President Putin decided to conduct a hate campaign against Russian gays? I want to see facts and know who is behind this? It is not too much to ask.

The USA has a lot of problems with political propaganda. The Right Wing doesn't comprehend reality, they create their own so they look as though they are competent. Who is behind these media hate campaigns in Russia?

The West? Who in The West? USA Psyops? Who?

...A new law in Russia, (click here) which went into effect in June, bans the promotion of “non-traditional relationships” toward minors.
Proponents say it shields children from harmful influences, but it has outraged the LGBT community and its supporters in the United States and elsewhere.
Amid reports of foreigners arrested in Russia under the new law, and widespread reports of violent attacks on gays, some groups are calling for a boycott of Russian products including vodka. Others are calling for a boycott of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
GLAAD applauded Miller’s move, and said it hopes other high-profile, gay celebrities would do the same....

Okay, there are new laws. The laws are often brought on by political pressure. From testimony by members of the Russian Gay Community, there was a hate campaign leading up to these laws. A year is not a long time. Obviously, someone, some entity DECIDED to carry out a hate campaign about a year ago to bring political pressure to pass laws discriminating against gay members of the Russian citizenship.

I have a good imagination. I am not seeking to abandon other human beings. I want more information. MORE THAN THE LEGISLATION AND THE ACTS AGAINST GAY CITIZENS.

Believe me, the worries about this is deeper than anyone wants to imagine because when children are separated from their parents, what then happens to the parents? HOWEVER. That line in the sand is highly inflammatory and there is no evidence of any demands for human rights violations, although taking children from parents is enough of a human rights violation.

I want to know whom is sponsoring hate in Russia? The church? They ran ads? Who is it?

MORE than protests are needed here. Diplomatic corps have to make it known they are watching Russia for atrocities. They need to know the roots of this mess.

Demonstrations often become the focus of hate. They victimize the victims. Demonstrations can be used against the community in ways that solidify hate. This 'organized' effort needs to be defined, to the depth of the definition and what approach is the best outcome.

I don't want dead people when the demonstrations are over validating the fear campaign.

Bush and Cheney goes first !

Rep. Kerry Bentivolio (R-Mich.) (click here) said Monday that he consulted lawyers about potentially impeaching President Obama, but that he ultimately decided there wasn’t enough evidence.
Bentivolio said he examined the matter after an encounter with Obama that left him disgusted.
“I went back to my office, and I had lawyers come in,” Bentivolio said at a town hall Monday. “These are lawyers, PhDs in history. And I said, ‘Tell me how I can impeach the President of the United States.’”
Bentivolio said he would need a smoking gun, such as an e-mail from the president directing the IRS to target conservatives.

This is the state of politics in the USA. Anything goes without fact or finding. It is a national shame.

President Obama is the greatest President we ever had. I mean you've got to be joking. Compare him to what he faced when he came into office with what Bush came into office with. No comparison.

Bush received a healthy economy, a national treasury surplus, growing economic trends across the board and a nation at peace.

President Obama came into office facing The Great Recession/Depression, an exploited American Dream, failing economy, two major wars, a huge national debt with STRUCTURAL deficit, discrimination of our Gay Community, our military was throwing out Gay Soldiers on a right regular basis under a dysfunctional "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and Americans dying due to No Health Insurance.

There is no comparison. Impeach what?

Manning will still be considered a male legally. That legal identity doesn't change until the secondary sexual characteristics change. That is the law.

So, while he is identifying as a different gender that won't change until he is out of the prison. I don't have a problem with the military not supplying gender change surgery. I would prefer he be in his private life and receive psychological support during these years. All that has to be done before any surgery is completed anyway. This is not an overnight decision. It is an important decision. Any gender change should be conducted with those that support him. That does not include a prison environment.

The compare and contrast that is completely irrelevant.

Japan's nuclear agency dramatically raises status after saying a day earlier that radioactive water leak was only an 'anomaly' (click here)

in Osaka
The Guardian,

Japan is to issue its gravest warning about the state of the wrecked Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant since the facility suffered a triple meltdown almost two and a half years ago.
The new warning, expected on Wednesday, comes only a day after the nuclear watchdog assigned a much lower ranking when the plant's operator, Tepco, admitted about 300 tonnes of highly toxic water had leaked from a storage tank at the site.
The Nuclear Regulation Authority has now said it will dramatically raise the incident's severity level from one to three on the eight-point scale used by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for radiation releases. Each single-digit increase in the scale actually represents a tenfold increase in the severity of a radiological release, according to the IAEA....

When anyone states alternative energies of any kind are more expensive than fossil fuels or nuclear they aren't seeing the ENTIRE cost and some of that cost is not measurable in dollars. Loss of land use and human life is not equivalent to any form of justification.

The long term return of alternatives out paces any other form of energy production.

Electricity generated (click here) at Delaware's newest solar farm near Georgetown is now flowing to hundreds of homes in Kent and Sussex Counties. The Delaware Electric Cooperative's Bruce A. Henry Solar Energy Farm started producing power last month, but the entire facility became operational this week.
Construction on the 20-acre site began in January, where 16,000 locally-manufactured solar panels generate enough power to light up 500 homes. Co-op officials say they are considering doubling the size of the $14 million facility, which would also double the output, producing power for 1,000 homes.
"Once plans to build the solar farm were finalized, we decided to use products made in Delaware. Aside from the obvious environmental benefits, this project has provided a boost to the state’s economy," said Bill Andrew, president and CEO of Delaware Electric Cooperative.
In its first year alone, the four megawatt solar project is expected to prevent more than 12 million pounds of carbon dioxide from being released into the air, which is the equivalent of taking 1,239 cars off the road....

I knew it. I knew he was transgender. He struggled with telling his father.

This is not a surprise. There is no closet to hide in. I knew it. When I heard his father was being ostracized from visiting, the light when on.
WASHINGTON | Thu Aug 22, 2013 10:00am EDT

Manning (click here) received the sentence on Wednesday for giving more than 700,000 secret files, videos and diplomatic cables to WikiLeaks. His lawyers had argued the former Army intelligence analyst suffered a sexual identity crisis when he leaked the files while serving in Iraq in 2009 and 2010.
"As I transition into this next phase of my life, I want everyone to know the real me. I am Chelsea Manning, I am a female," Manning, 25, said in the statement read by anchorwoman Savannah Guthrie on NBC News' "Today" show.
"Given the way that I feel and have felt since childhood, I want to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible," Manning said. "I also request that starting today you refer to me by my new name and use the feminine pronoun."
An Army spokeswoman said the Army does not provide hormone therapy or sex-change surgery....

It is senseless to try to argue with these people. They are at best incompetent.

When Peggy Noonan turned into a ranting pundit rather than a rational writer sculpting any real difference between the two parties, she no long carries brevity. She is at best incompetent and WILLING to be corrupt. There is no other way to see this. The Right Wing politicians are morons and they don't govern. Why pander to this mess? It only confuses the people to believe a national journalist actually has something to say that makes sense. She is an Obamawannbee along with her politicians. Just that simple.

By Steve Benen

Peggy Noonan, (click here) a prominent Republican pundit at the Wall Street Journal, ran into a little trouble last week trying to discuss health care policy she mistakenly thinks she understands.
Indeed, as Ezra Klein explained yesterday, "Noonan's column is a beautiful example of a writer so intent on criticizing Obamacare that she's missed the fact that the law is doing precisely the thing she wants done. A reasonable reader of Noonan's column would end up loathing 'Obamacare' and hoping for a replacement that looks like, well, Obamacare."
At issue is something called Community First Choice, a new part of Medicaid that expands access to at-home care for the disabled. It's a major breakthrough, which Noonan thinks she doesn't like, but when she fleshed out her concerns, it sounded like Nooan was calling for changes that are already in the law....

This only goes to PROVE the newspapers bought out by power hungry rich men are corrupted by promoting a particular view of the world. The Wall Street Journal is a partisan news rag. I never give them validity.

I think we all knew this would happen, didn't we? We are complaining about the private industry called Koch Industries and the Koch Brothers purchasing newspaper after newspaper. They want control. Wall Street and the Koch Brothers want control. It makes me laugh to actually believe there is freedom of the press anymore.

NOT! And these owners actually believe they are great patriots. Bulloney, they are greedy.

These wealth barons are not trustworthy. They don't deserve the trust of the people. Why bother buying a newspaper when it is corrupted by political leanings of the wealthy? Why do that? Makes no sense.

At least the Boston Globe is local. At least one paper in the USA actually wants to value democracy. If it practices partisan politics it will fail, too.

It doesn't get worse than this. Not for a democracy. The American people are trying to scratch out a living and understand their politics when they have time to spend. It's bad in the USA. Peggy Noonan is a prime example of the madness. She is corrupted and incompetent. When anyone asks the Right Wing what their health care plan is, they simply act like Obamawannabees as if they are the ones with the best ideas. It's is lunacy and the electorate is suppose to make sense of it. Right.

The case has passed a statutory limit.

Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak (click here) is to be put under house arrest following a court order to release him in a corruption case, officials say.
The prime minister's office said the measure would be taken "in the context of the emergency law" currently in place across the country.
Mr Mubarak, 85, is expected to be released from prison later on Thursday.
He still faces charges of complicity in the killing of protesters during the uprising that ousted him in 2011.
He was sentenced to life in jail last year, but a retrial was later ordered after his appeal was upheld.
That retrial opened in May but Mr Mubarak has now served the maximum amount of pre-trial detention permitted in the case....

The people of the USA have been stuck with this horrid technology due to a 2005 Bush/Cheney law.

Hydrofracking (click here) is a controversial oil and gas extraction technique developed in the late 1940s to gain access to fossil energy deposits previously inaccessible to drilling operations. The process, "hydraulic fracturing", literally involves the smashing of rock with millions of gallons of water--along with sand and a undisclosed assortment of chemicals in order to bring gas to the surface.
The 2005 Energy Policy Act exempted fracking from the Safe Drinking Water Act--this regulatory exclusion is often referred to as the "Halliburton Loophole."
Montana fracking is still in the early stages of development compared to other states and has been described by a Texas oil company as "the best kept secret in oil and gas."

The law takes away our democracy. It IMPOSES the will of the petroleum industry on people while hiding all the problems with the technology.

The petroleum industry wants to pretend to be on top of all the problems and are seeking to recycle water, etc., etc., etc.

This technology is very different than drilling for oil. It is invasive, can be directed horizontally as well as vertically. It is like a serpent and there is no controlling the outcome.

Why is there no controlling the outcome, because, it splits rock. It isn't cutting into rock with a singular direction, it is melting rocks without discrimination as to the amount or the rock or the direction. It is a very dangerous technology.

I don't doubt this technology has existed since the 1940s. It is fairly obvious that it has. It is crude and does little to control the pollution and the leaking methane. It says Petroleum Industry all over it. They don't care what they do to the land.

Ask this to any government official that believes this technology is better than sliced bread. Ask them and the petroleum industry what their plans are to return the land to pristine condition when they are finished with their drilling and methane extraction. ASK THEM. Don't think twice about it. Ask them what they are going to do to return the land to it's original condition when they finished with their profiteering.

They won't have an answer. Why? Because once the land has been fracked, there is no going back. It is even worse than mountain top mining. At least with mountain top mining the companies are required to preserve the removed biotic soils and content of the mountain and then to provide a way to return the forest once the mountain has been leveled. The fracking industry has no way of even doing that much. Once the land is fractured, it will always be fractured. Once the rock has been dissolved it will not regenerate.

It is a horrid technology that should have remained back in the 1940s.

Of course the petroleum industry is going to deny it. The tobacco industry denied cancer, too.

The correlations are everywhere, not just Ohio. Texas was one of the earliest states to reach that conclusion. This is all well funded and well founded research by qualified scientists. They know of what they speak.

...Researchers at Youngstown State University in Ohio report (click here) that a single injection well was responsible for 107 earthquakes there, with magnitudes of up to 3.9 recorded, all within one year of it becoming operational.
The activity reportedly stopped after the Ohio Department of Natural Resources shut the well down in December of 2011.

In their letter, the commissioners say current injection well pressure regulations in place do little to address the potential for “earthquake events.” In addition, the commissioners fear that such an event risks large scale contamination of underground water supplies. The commissioners are the latest entity to publicly oppose the injection well planned for Highland Township.

Earlier this year, the Highland Township Supervisors passed an ordinance banning injection wells in an attempt to block Seneca Resources from going ahead with its plans to develop one near James City. They claimed the ordinance was an attempt to protect its local water supply.

“The people of Highland Township and James City are very, very concerned about this injection well and they have asked us to do anything we can to speak out on their behalf,” Commissioner Dan Freeburg said on Tuesday.
Josie Schultz, a community advisor with oil and natural gas corporation EQT, was in attendance at Tuesday’s meeting where she said a definitive link between injection wells and seismic events has yet to made.

“Personally, I don’t believe that there’s a correlation, but there are studies that show discrepancies,” Schultz said, adding that geology could be playing a greater role than industry operations in the seismic activity.

The commissioners’ letter comes as the EPA finishes gathering public comment on the Highland Township injection well. The EPA will issue a response to comments before announcing a final permit decision within 30 days. The public has 30 days from then to appeal the decision by petitioning the Environmental Appeals Board. If the permit goes unchallenged it would become effective immediately....

This is the ground breaking Texas study.

Study finds correlation between injection wells and small earthquakes (click here)
Tuesday, August 7, 2012

...Frohlich analyzed seismic data collected between November 2009 and September 2011 by the EarthScope USArray Program, a National Science Foundation-funded network of broadband seismometers from the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico. Because of the high density of instruments (25 in or near the Barnett Shale), Frohlich was able to detect earthquakes down to magnitude 1.5, far too weak for people to feel at the surface.

He found that the most reliably located earthquakes—those which are accurate to within about 0.9 miles (1.5 kilometers)—occurred in eight groups, all within 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) of one or more injection wells. Before this study, the National Earthquake Information Center had only identified two earthquake groups in the area strongly associated with specific injection wells. This suggests injection-triggered earthquakes are far more common than is generally recognized....

Ya gotta love this one. One single law firm has the sons of two Supreme Court Justices working for them.

So, hey Dad, what do you think of the case with....?

I am sure their secrets are safe at the firm. Now all we have to do is figure out whether there are any conflict of interests when the bench convenes.

The sons of two (click here) Supreme Court justices are working together at the litigation giant Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. The firm recently hired Philip Alito, the son of Justice Samuel Alito, a spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday. He is part of the firm’s incoming fall associate class.

He joins Eugene Scalia, the son of Justice Antonin Scalia and former U.S. solicitor of the Labor Department, who has been a partner at Gibson Dunn since 2003. Scalia has left and returned to the firm several times over the years while holdings various judicial positions....

Antonian Scalia states the USA should not INVENT new minorities. You mean like the one at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher? Oh, no. Oh, the gays. Oh, those people. Yeah, well, I think they were a minority for a long time, it ain't new. Believe me, it is as old as Cain and Able, honey.

The U.S. Supreme Court is making decisions that should be left to Congress or the people, from wiretapping to "inventing" new classes of minorities, Justice Antonin Scalia said Monday.
In an apparent reference to the court's recent decisions on gay marriage and benefits for same-sex couples, Scalia said it is not the function of the courts to create exceptions outside the Constitution unless a majority of people agree with them.
"It's not up to the courts to invent new minorities that get special protections," Scalia told a packed hotel ballroom in southwestern Montana....

Okay, so therefore what?

In U.S., 52% Back Law to Legalize Gay Marriage in 50 States (click here)

Americans would legalize gay marriage nationwide, favor equal rights for such unions

by Lydia Saad
PRINCETON, NJ -- If given the opportunity to vote on a law legalizing gay marriage in all 50 states, the slight majority of Americans, 52%, say they would cast their vote in favor, while 43% would vote against it....

I am a little worried about Justice Scalia. First it's broccoli, then voting rights and now gay marriage. The man needs to get a grip.

U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia gives (click here) a speech sponsored by the Federalist Society in Bozeman, Mont., on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013. Scalia said the U.S. Supreme Court is making decisions that should be left to Congress or the people, from wiretapping to "inventing" new classes of minorities. Scalia spoke before more than 300 people in Bozeman in a gathering sponsored by the Federalist Society, which he helped launch more than 30 years ago to fight the perception of liberal bias at the nation's law schools. We love you Justice Scalia, but, give me a break already. The politics when it is discriminatory is unbecoming. Ponder that one awhile. Hope the dinner was enjoyable.

...Both Goldman's mistake yesterday (click here) — a system programming error that set incorrect price limits in a number of ticker symbols — and Knight's mistake — also a system programming error that sent algorithms buying high and selling low — highlight the fact that complex, high speed computer software has the power to set markets into a tizzy.

Here's how far Goldman's faulty trade, which were sent to options exchanges around the country, reached yesterday (from Bloomberg):

The trading may have affected about 400,000 contracts for companies such as JPMorgan Chase & Co., Johnson & Johnson and Kellogg Co., based on data for the 500 biggest trades. Nasdaq OMX PHLX is reviewing a list of about 1,225 unique contracts on 51 underlying stocks, according to its trader alert email.

About 240 September $103 put contracts for the iShares Russell 2000 Exchange-Traded Fund traded at $1 at 9:32 a.m. New York time today, down from as much as $3.32 two minutes earlier, data compiled by Bloomberg show. The next trade was executed at $3.27 at 9:33 a.m.

For Knight Capital, a programming error cost the firm its own existence. Goldman, on the other hand, says the error “would not be material to the financial condition of the firm."

The bank is known for having some of the most sophisticated and powerful trading technology on the Street, but we're talking about trading high speed in the options market here. As firms try to build programs to become the fastest and the baddest, say some experts, mistakes can be made....

The question is, did Tourre know the securities he was selling was going to fail? You mean he didn't? Really? The securities were horrible and he didn't know they were going to fail along with every other major institution on Wall Street. Give me a break.

...The SEC sued Tourre and Goldman Sachs in 2010, (click here) accusing them of selling subprime mortgage securities in 2007 that they knew were doomed to fail. Goldman Sachs settled its end of the case, agreeing to pay $550 million. The SEC is seeking a declaration that Tourre violated securities laws. It wants unspecified penalties and damages and for Tourre to lose any profits he made from the deal.
Martens immediately questioned Tourre pointedly about a January 2007 email he sent to Laura Schwartz, a former executive at ACA Financial Guaranty Corp., a bond insurance company that invested in a package of subprime mortgage securities that collapsed in value with the U.S. housing market.
The email described the structure of the financial product and portrayed Paulson & Co. Inc., led by its billionaire president, John A. Paulson, as a sponsor of the securities, known as Abacus 2007-AC1.
"Was it false?" Martens asked.
"It was not accurate," Tourre responded, refusing repeatedly to answer the question yes or no.
"Is there a difference in your mind between something being inaccurate or false?" Martens asked.
Tourre said there was. He later added: "I had no intention to mislead anyone with this email."
Tourre, born in France, worked at Goldman Sachs after coming to the United States in 2000 to study. His state of mind is expected to play a critical role in whether a jury agrees with the SEC's claims that Tourre tricked investors, such as ACA Financial Guaranty, by making it seem that Paulson was counting on the mortgage-based securities to succeed when it actually was betting on them to fail....
