The Supreme Court never said the voting RULES existing because of Section 5 was unconstitutional.

The Supreme Court sent the law back to the Congress to rewrite for a larger application. The DOJ still has every right to file a lawsuit against any state for egregious laws. 

In all honestly, we still have the 14th and 19th Amendment to the USA Constitution besides The Voting Rights Act.  

The 14th Amendment states:  No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.


The U.S. Justice Department,(click here) deprived by the Supreme Court of the power to pre-emptively halt state voting laws it finds discriminatory, will seek a federal court ruling to force Texas to get approval before changing any of its election laws.

“We believe the state of Texas should be required to go through a preclearance process whenever it changes its voting laws and practices,” Attorney General Eric Holder Holder said in prepared remarks for the National Urban League Annual Conference in Philadelphia... 

And there is the 1866 Civil Rights Act (click here).

The 13th Amendment ended slavery and the USA Constitution was a civil rights document from the beginning. Besides any anti-discrimination legislation at the federal and state levels.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

If women and/or men are finding there is obstruction to asserting their CONSTITUTIONAL rights then it is litigable ONCE AGAIN all the way to the Supreme Court.

The AG should be seeking injunctions to any voting rights CHANGES that has proven statistical oppressive effects. All the communities need is ONE example of any person aggrieved by the new OR revised laws.

The reason States BELIEVE they have the RIGHT to run roughshod over people that vote against the GOP is because they 'think they can get away with it.' That is the only reason. It is not that the states have the right to carry out illegitimate elections, it is because they believe they can even though they should not. The laws that oppress even ONE VOTERS expression of their will at the ballot box is illegal. It is stated over and over and over again in laws of the USA Constitution and across this country.

The States seeking MORE POWER since the Supreme Court decision and aggressively moving to oppress voters are acting UNCONSTITUTIONALLY and quite possibly illegally. 

Does anyone actually believe when President Lincoln freed slaves that he was not committed to their full citizenship. It was that commitment Booth assassinated.

No contribution by the petroleum industry to the USA economy is worth it.

The flow of natural gas (click here) has been contained at a natural gas well located in 154 feet of water 55 miles offshore of Louisiana at South Timbalier, Block 220, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) said in a statement to the press July 25.
The A-3 natural gas well, owned by Walter Oil & Gas Corp. and located 55 miles offshore Louisiana, stopped flowing natural gas after the well bridged after the owner and other parties injected sand and sediment into the well path, BSEE said. A small flame continued to burn from residual gas at the top of the well.
The owner was still making preparations to drill a relief well, if necessary, according to Reuters.

No, it is not contained, it is SLOWED. It is still burning and we all know what occurred when the Deepwater Horizon continued to burn regardless of all efforts to put out the fire.

The lousy rig with a completely ineffective Blowout Preventer SANK. It sank and caused more damage than ever before on the USA gulf coast. 

I don't like being played for a fool and I don't like being manipulated. There is still significant danger to our environment as this completely incompetent industry still pollutes with the leaking methane as well as burning methane emitting CO2 pollution into the troposphere. 

It took about 36 hours of intense burning before the Deepwater Horizon sank to a depth of one mile into twisted metal and deepsea garbage.

Coastal Louisiana would like its wetlands back. (click here) It needs them to protect itself from rising seas and raging storms.
The agency charged with protecting New Orleans-area residents from floods is suing Big Oil, claiming it should repair damages that it caused to wetlands that once buffered the region from tidal surges.
The oil companies have recklessly torn out the marshes and plants that ringed the Gulf of Mexico as they laid pipelines and other infrastructure to serve their decades-long oil- and gas-drilling bonanza....

Finally, someone in Louisiana figured out that the petroleum industry has destroyed the ONLY real barrier to protecting citizens of the USA that live and work along the coast.

The government of Louisiana is among the worst in the country. It never acts to protect citizens or bringing security to it's citizens. If it weren't for federal programs such as food stamps, Medicaid and Environmental Protections, the people of Louisiana would never have a fighting chance in the world.

I already know the initial hearings in Louisiana will fail because of corruption within the court system. They have to continue to appeal until receiving proper recognition of federal laws that were suppose to preserve the wetlands and fine the oil industry for destroying them. 

The people of the State of Louisiana are not important. They are 'in the way' of petroleum industry profits. The only value the people of Louisiana have is when they service the rigs and demands of the crews on those rigs, otherwise, the fisheries mean nothing, the natural beauty of the area are nothing, the waterways into the state where some of the most impoverished in this nation live are nothing. 

The people of the USA are provided Wall Street Welfare in oil subsidies, a state government dependent on federal programs to protect their lives and FEMA even though they get better service from them than their state government regardless of any complaints otherwise. 

Louisiana has to be among the most significant Third World Environments within the borders of the USA. Work for pennies and expect life to be lousy.

I think high speed rail has to be aerodynamically competent.

We know for a fact that heat causes problems with infrastructure competency. There should be remote sensors providing information to engineers and inspection personnel to prompt inspection of the rails. During the high temperatures in the USA there were rail services effected because of warping. That is a fact. 

Understanding the rails themselves and knowing when trouble can occur is all part of it.

Vibration. There is exaggerated vibration in a machine this large when it changes speed.

That vibration can be controlled. It is when it gets out of control that it is a problem. It is impossible to remove vibration from any mechanism. Vibration is caused by friction and overcoming it; to move or stop.

The vibration is caused when parts both stationary and moving interact. That is the same for jets and planes, except, the air friction is more fluid and less reliable. Damn it.

I think air fluidity has to enter the picture with high speed rail as well. External forces acting on 'the system.' There is also the issue of heat and rail competency. Warping. Expansion gaps. It was as bright sunny day.

The engineer might have been going to fast, but, what acted on 'the system' to make this such a huge gap in safety?

...The railroad initially blamed (click here) the catastrophe on the failure of the train's pneumatic airbrakes after an engine fire, but the company acknowledged on Wednesday that the train's engineer did not apply an adequate number of handbrakes to hold the train in place, and failed to comply with regulations.

A Reuters review of Canadian and U.S. regulations found that rail operators are given considerable leeway to decide how many handbrakes are sufficient for any given train, depending on track conditions and the weight of the cargo.

Operators are only required to apply enough of the handbrakes - one is found on every railcar - to ensure the train will not move even if other safety features, such as air brakes, falter.

The issue of handbrakes is likely to prove central to how blame is apportioned for the deadliest North American railroad disaster in at least two decades, experts said. The Canadian authorities have launched a criminal investigation, and Quebec police inspector Michel Forget has said criminal negligence is one lead they are looking into....

There was something wrong with the second car before the train reached the turn.

When taken frame by frame it is very noticeable that the car immediately behind the engine was out of alignment. I can't help but wonder if that misalignment occurred earlier in the train's travel and why it wasn't picked up on inspection? It looks as though there is an elevation to the connection with the train. No one saw it? I mean the engineer does inspect the train and it's connections before starting down the rails, right? The engineer does 'walk the train' before entertaining leaving the station, right? Pre-Trip Inspection, yes?

The train itself is most likely a hybrid. The bottom alignment is not straight as it comes down that track to the curve. It sincerely looks to me as though there is a misalignment between the engine and the second car even before the curve. Maybe it's just shadows. That is what makes me crazy watching digital, I never know if the digital oscillated at all in order to realign the picture. It just appears as though the engine and the second car weren't getting along before the turn either. I think the turn simply exacerbated the misalignment or vibration.

Vibration at that speed can interpret into a struggle with velocity and alignment. The second car would be catching up with the engine. The 'clunk-clunk' hear when a train first starts up. I think there was a difference in velocity between the cars. 

Better scenario is that the engine might have been slowing and that wasn't transmitted to the second car. All the cars have independent brakes, right? So, when the engineer slows the train all the cars are breaking evenly. That should be occurring with any train, not just high speed rail. It makes me think the electrics have to be checked, too. The wreckage needs to be inspected well.

The misalignment I am seeing occurs as early as 00.09 in the video. The undercarriage is not in the same alignment between the following cars and the engine. I am sure they can figure it out.

 Hybrid train S130H / S730

In order to extend high-quality services to parts of Spain not then reached by the high-speed rail network under construction, RENFE undertook the procurement of trains combining both electrical and conventional diesel combustion engine power. The trains, for delivery in 2012 for use from Madrid to Murcia, and Madrid to Galicia, were to be constructed by Talgo and Bombardier, at a cost of 78 million euro. The new trains based on the S-130 were initially coded S130H, later S730; 15 original S-130 units will be converted to the hybrid operation.

Fifteen S130 sets are to be converted, using two generator sets per train using MTU 12V 4000 R43L engines (1.8MW each) in trailer cars. The top speed in diesel mode is 180 km/h. Testing of the trains took place in 2011 with introduction into service expected in 2012.

Cyberspace can't possibly look one in the eyes and make that level of emotional loyalty. It simply isn't possible.

Emotional competency and being 'in touch' with the feelings our biochemistry assigns it is paramount to emotional wellness. One cannot set up healthy boundaries if they can't read the warning signs. Literally, I have stated to people, "Didn't you even pause for a moment before allowing such a photo to be emailed?" And many would say, "Yes, but, it didn't seem wrong." Well. What is then wrong with that picture, but, to focus on THE FEELING and why it was completely competent to pause in the first place.

"A Serial Flasher?" What are the women in these episodes? Victims? I don't think so.

That is the dialogue. Why do the attempts by Anthony and Huma to stop the assault on their marriage fail? I mean you talk about impossible odds. She has had some very difficult days, but, her solace is there are numbers of sexual playmates and they aren't involved in an intimate way. The internet is a seduction tool. There are couples all over this country seeking help with their marriage because of internet relationships. When is that insidious tool going to become sensitive to the sexual assaults marriages have to face every moment of everyday.

 

I was affiliated with a campus women's organization when it became obvious there were emotional abuses of sexual partners on campus through this ridiculous media instrument called telecommunications and instant messaging. Young men and women about the age of this woman were emotionally bonding with people familiar to them or otherwise over a wireless device.

 

Professionals sat down and discussed what we were facing. We didn't like it. The wireless device was as much a necessary professional tool as it was a personal asset to communication with friends. It was a problem. If, as a campus community, we were demanding emotional competency with our learners and educators what were we going to do about it?

 

The paradigm took on the characteristics of "The Woman that Loves Too Much." That dynamic has very high recidivism rates. In the pockets and handbags and backpacks of our community was a dangerous weapon against their personal security and their emotional health.

 

The community could not simply turn them off, they were looking for work and passing around their resumes'. They were carrying out research with notes and papers on their devices. The devices were vital safety measures as well as a threat. There was no option of simply turning them off.

 

The emotional component had to conquered and we were fairly sure what we were looking at. Recidivism with a dangerous component is an education issue. The users of the device had to conquer their vulnerabilities. No different than 19 year old interns finding themselves without enforcers (parents) of their boundaries. Our community was 'on the loose' for the first time in their lives and they were emotionally vulnerable. There were many of them, not just one or two. We began to recommend these folks start by taking self-defense courses offered by the campus police when they took their required gym classes. We wanted to make the threat they were facing both emotionally and physically to become real.

 

Tears alone when their privacy was violated in a public way was not enough. Tears when a heart is violated to realize they are not the only one was not enough. Many of these experiences were new to them and we didn't approve of it. They weren't even worrying about self-survival in the real world. Cyberspace was now included in the abuses of the real world.

 

Additionally, the focus on wireless communications as a tool without a physical relationship should be prohibited. Asking for a date was not to occur over cyberspace. Allowing an emotional dating relationship without having a physical component was absolutely out of the question and if a strange it was then 'stranger danger.' Cyberspace offers an entire world of the untouchables. It is horrible, abusive and cruel and now the public is getting a real taste of it.

 

The issues surrounding 'deprogramming' from Sexual Cyber Abuse is very difficult. Competent emotional bonding can last a lifetime if it touches the private world of the human emotions. That is healthy. We need those deep abiding private places in life. When abuse is introduced into that private and emotional space it is not just sad, but dangerous.

 

I realize that politics can be garnered from such sexual mischief by candidates. No one should know that better than Anthony Weiner. But, the continued lack of substantive dialogue and focusing on nothing but tabloid headlines is not going get anyone anywhere. Will Mr. Weiner continue to embarrass himself? Who knows? But, then that simply means he is not a good marriage candidate and not necessarily a failure as a mayor.

That should take care of my blogging for the day.

MOSCOW, July 25 (RIA Novosti) – The percentage of Russians (click here) who say it is acceptable to tell white lies has almost doubled since the fall of the Soviet Union, according to a poll on Russian morals released Thursday by the Levada Center.

Just 33 percent of those surveyed in 1992 said that they considered lying for a good cause to be acceptable, while 61 percent gave that answer when the same question was asked last month. The number of those who declined to give an opinion on the subject fell from 31 percent to 14 percent.

The Levada Center poll, entitled “The Moral Limitations of Russians,” asked ten different morality-related questions about issues ranging from personal relationships to paying taxes and stealing....

Since the USA is building the wall along the southern border, drug may find Russia and easier approach.

Why aren't low flying planes coming into the USA intercepted? We all know what they are doing after all. Forget the folks on foot they can only carry 75 pounds at a time according to the professional observations of a US Congressman.

MOSCOW, July 24 (RIA Novosti) – Two Sukhoi Su-27 fighter jets (click here)were scrambled earlier this week in response to an alert that Russian airspace  over the Baltic Sea had been violated by a small passenger plane, the Defense Ministry said Wednesday.
The Russian Aerospace Defense Forces detected an aircraft flying over Polish territory toward Gdansk Bay about 50 kilometers away from the Russian border on Monday night.
“At 8:26 p.m. on July 22, a Cessna plane crossed the Russian border over the Gdansk Bay without responding to calls [from Russian authorities],” the ministry said in a statement.
A Sukhoi Su-27 fighter jet stationed in the Kaliningrad Region was sent to establish the aircraft's identity and prevent its further movement into Russian airspace....

If this keeps up they are going to cause a war or something especially with all those Evangelicals getting their way.

TOKYO, July 16 (RIA Novosti) - Japan’s Air Self-Defense Force (click here) had to scramble fighter jets in response to flights by Russian military aircraft near Japanese airspace and over the disputed Kuril Islands on Monday, local media reported.

Two Tu-95 Bear bombers flew over the Sea of Japan moving from the Korean Peninsula, and proceeded along the Japanese archipelago to the north of Hokkaido. Another plane, the IL-20, flew over the Kuril Islands, NHK television said late Monday citing the Defense Ministry.

According to Japanese officials, the Russian aircraft had not violated the country’s airspace.

The Russian Defense Ministry later said that two Tupolev Tu-95MS strategic bombers, flying a training mission as part of the snap military rills in the Eastern Military District, were followed by South Korean and Japanese fighter jets....

I need to write a letter to the White House about Japan's nuclear program. I am fairly certain they already have their own centrifuges.

MOSCOW, July 25 (RIA Novosti) – The scenario for a forthcoming NATO exercise (click here) in the ex-Soviet Baltic republics and Poland, in which those nations face invasion by a foreign power, is reminiscent of the Cold War period, Russia's Deputy Defense Minister said Thursday.

The exercise, dubbed Steadfast Jazz 2013, will be held in November in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. According to NATO, the primary purpose of the exercise is to test the command and control elements of NATO’s Response Force.

“As we prepared for this meeting, we carefully studied information received from NATO countries about Steadfast Jazz-2013,” Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov told a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council in Brussels, according to the ministry's website.

“I can’t hide the fact that the Russian Defense Ministry was bewildered by the proclaimed goal of this exercise, which envisages the application of Article 5 of the Washington Treaty triggering a response to an aggression against Poland. These drills are in the spirit of the Cold War,” Antonov said.

The Zapad 2013 joint military exercises between Russia and Belarus in the fall this year will only simulate combat against terrorist groups and illegal armed formations penetrating Belarusian territory, he added.

Russia has held the largest exercises for its armed forces this year since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Defense Ministry said last week after a huge deployment and readiness test in the country's far east involving armor, aircraft and ships....

Well, this can't be good news. And they put it in the English version of the newspaper, too. Is that bold or what? At least in the USA when they do this kind of stuff the only people knowledgeable are the towns people and spies. And the blasted things being transported always look like flying saucers under a white tarp.

MOSCOW, July 25 (RIA Novosti) – A Soyuz-U rocket (click here) carrying a Progress M-20M space freighter has been installed on the launch pad at the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan in preparation for a supply mission to the International Space Station, the Russian space agency Roscosmos said Thursday.
The launch is scheduled for 00:45 a.m. Moscow time on Sunday (20:45 GMT on Saturday).
The Progress M-20M will again return to the "short" six-hour flight path to the International Space Station. The last Progress M-19M cargo spacecraft launched in April 2013 reached the orbital outpost two days after liftoff....

It would seem as though God is on Russia's side these days.

City council members (click here) in Lansing, Michigan are deciding whether to end their sister city agreement with St. Petersburg over laws in the Russian city that ban “homosexual propaganda.”
“Sister city relations with St. Petersburg are listed as the first item on the agenda” at a city council committee meeting Monday evening, city clerk Chris Swope told RIA Novosti by phone.
The “committee of the whole can’t take final action on the issue but can make recommendations to the full council,” which is due to meet in one week, Swope said.
Lansing council members who are pushing for an end to the sister city relationship say that a 2012 law in St. Petersburg that bans “gay propaganda” conflicts with an ordinance passed in the Michigan state capital in 2006, prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity....
