There should be rip current warnings along the entire gulf and east coast.

I would think the waves alone would sound small craft warnings, too. This storms reach goes beyond the gulf coast. 

The National Weather Service is warning that deadly rip currents at New Jersey beaches are likely today, but those conditions aren’t believed to be related to Tropical Storm Issac.

“Issac is quite a ways away from here,” said Mitchell Gaines, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Mount Holly office. “Will it affect New Jersey? It’s still difficult to determine that.”...

They aren't serious about all those stairs. Are they? Looks like a church alter.

Brown suggested that the Republican Party has taken steps to ensure that the convention goes without unwanted attention. From scripting speeches and schedules, to asking people who may say something outlandish to stay at home, the Republican Party has taken many steps to avoid making news.

“Who you won’t hear from are the people who might make news, you are not going to hear from Donald Trump. You’re not going to hear from Sarah Palin. Governor Palin is too big to script, so you get a what-the-hell-did-she-say effect. An unscripted, what-the-hell-did-she-just-say is not what the Romney campaign wants”, Brown said. With the media storming into the city camera-ready for the right moment when someone missteps and makes news, it is hard to believe that an exciting, campaign changing moment will not occur.

Contrary to Brown’s statement, it was announced on Monday that the media magnet Donald Trump would in fact be making an appearance at the Republican National Convention. Regardless of what Trump says the Republican Party has spent much time coordinating this event and will do their best to keep it free of embarrassment....

I know this sounds opportunistic, but, I was thinking the same thing. I expect it to be a very boring few days. The excitement will come when delegates "Stand their ground," on Santorum and Ron Paul.

There is no reason to believe Isaac won't make landfall at the mouth of the Mississippi River.

The dynamics of the Gulf are not that much different than seven years ago.

The difference is the storm itself. It is going to be a soaker, but, the levies even before Katrina withstood Cat 3 storms without failing. Katrina was pushing a huge storm surge and that is what brought volume of water  (weight) causing the failure of the levies.

There will be considerable rain to the same region, however, there will be relief to the volume in the rivers and tributaries as water flows out of the delta while the rain is falling. This storm is dense in rainfall while Katrina brought immediate inundating storm surge. 

I don't make these statements lightly. The fear along the Gulf Coast is significant with storms approaching. There are areas below sea level, hence, the levies. People need to take precautions, there will be flooding. But, Isaac is not another Katrina. There will be flooding with large amounts of rainfall. But, there will not be the power that Katrina delivered.

BE SMART, BE SAFE!

Isaac can have the same behavior as Katrina, in that it will wobble it's path before landfall.

How is Florida? It got soaked over the entire state. Isaac was, for the most part, a bi-coastal storm for the size of it.There are areas of the east coast receiving some of Isaac's wrath as well.

I realize the Hurricane Center is busy right now, but, there is another storm in the Atlantic.

Astronaut Neil Armstrong (click title to entry - thank you) received the first Congressional Space Medal of Honor from President Jimmy Carter

Armstrong, one of six astronauts to be presented the medal during ceremonies held in the Vehicle Assembly Building, was awarded for his performance during the Gemini 8 mission and the Apollo 11 mission when he became the first human to set foot upon the moon. Armstrong died on Aug. 25, 2012, at the age of 82.
